Day 14 - In His Word - MAIL {FMF}

Today is Day 14 of the "write31days" challenge; and I am linking up with Kate Motaung and the Five Minute Friday group for this year's "free writes".

Check out all of my posts in my "In His Word" series here.

The word for today is Mail ...

You've Got Mail!

At one time these words indicated a real piece of mail was delivered in a real mail box at the front of your house.

I would get very excited to receive a letter or a card from my grandmother, or my cousin, or a pen pal I had as a teenager.  I would read my letter as soon as I could; and answer it right away!

You've Got Mail!

Later this meant "mail" received on the computer - an "e-mail" or "electronic mail".

This method of receiving mail is much quicker, perhaps even easier; but not very personal.

You've Got Mail!

What a great movie that was!  Connecting via the Internet is great!  I love being able to keep in touch with family and friends far and wide ...

But, I miss holding that card or letter in my hands, picturing the person who sent it to me.

{I feel the same way about books!  Give me one I can hold in my hand and I am in another world of words!}

In the past couple of years, I have become a part of a few groups that exchange cards for birthdays.  Appropriately named, "Bringing Birthdays Back," we have a Facebook page and even a stamp to use on the backs of the cards we mail out!  It is a great feeling to receive so many cards on my birthday!

Another group of creative crafters exchange their hand-made goodies, as well as other items on a monthly basis.

I am like a kid at Christmas when I receive a card, or a letter; and especially when I received other goodies, or "happy mail!"

How would it feel to open your mail box and find a letter - a love not - from God?  That note could read something like this:

Well, each time we hold the Holy Bible in our hands, we are holding an entire book filled with "letters" from God ...

... letters from Home!  Enjoy reading them.

  1. I am fascinated by how similar our thoughts are about this week's prompt. "You've got mail" is one of my favorite movies and I thought of including the exact quote you included in yours but did not. I am glad that you did. Visiting from FMF. Blessings.

    1. Thank you! I probably spent more time searching for images or quotes - typical of me!!! But have been hand-writing my posts until I can get them all merged into this "new" blog!

      I love that movie too and it was the first thought I had when I saw the word...and was excited to actually find the quote and photo.

      Thank you for reading and commenting; it always encourages me to see how closely related my thoughts are to others'!

  2. Oh I love how you flowed with this... how you went from 'old school' mail and email (to that movie --which I love!) to the letters God has written us in the Bible! Well done! (And those goodies! Wow!)

    1. Thank you, Karrilee!! My first thought was the movie; but then I remembered how excited I was when I'd receive letters in the mail!

      Those goodies?! They didn't even reflect the biggest most beautiful tag I've ever seen in these swaps I do...it was GORGEOUS!!

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

  3. You've Got Mail is one of my most favorite movies. I love to receive mail, but I don't receive it very often. Mostly email these days.

    1. It IS a fave movie, isn't it, Barbie!! It IS sad that people don't write anymore and resort to only email or even Facebook. I try; but am not very good at it anymore...

      Thanks for reading and commenting...
